Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai recently announced that 21,780 out of 33,000 teachers in the state, failed the competency test.
According to him, the test was conducted to check their abilities as a teacher.
“We tested our 33,000 primary school teachers, we gave them primary four examination and required they must get at least 75 per cent but I am sad to announce that 66 per cent of them failed to get the requirements.
“The hiring of teachers in the past was politicized and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state,” the governor said.
He shared copies of the primary four exam questions on Wednesday.
Mr. El-Rufai posted the questions on Twitter with the caption: “Excerpts of the Primary Four ‘competency test’ questions massively failed by Kaduna State Teachers. Now, You be the judge.
“If a teacher fails to score at least 75% in this primary 4 competency test, is he or she qualified to teach? Answer sincerely.”
